Miles and Tom point that there are a couple of things I should’ve noted in my previous post on Catalyst’s new File Manager:
– You can mount the Webfiles right onto your desktop, so it appears just like any other disk drive to your computer and all of its applications. That’s a big deal – it allows you t0 save files directly into Webfiles from applications like Word or Excel, or you can drag files directly into Webfiles on your desktop. How cool is that?
– Of interest to developers and sysadmins, File Manager and Share Spaces are available open source as part of the Solstice offering, which also includes all the modern generation of Catalyst tools, including WebQ (survey and quizes), GoPost (threaded discussions), Collectit (a file dropbox useful for activities like turning in homework or exchanging files with comments), and QuickPoll (a quick single question poll to put on web pages).
Check ’em out!
